Jesus Lopez

Hi, my name is Jesus. I started playing indoor volleyball at age 15 in high school after managing the girl’s team that school year. I loved the sport but never found my stride until I discovered sand volleyball a few years later at age 19.

Beach volleyball has allowed me to progress in all the skills in the sport. Beach volleyball also ignited my obsession and ambition to play at a higher level. I now play in tournaments all over Arizona as well as Professional caliber tournaments outside of Arizona.

What I love about sand volleyball is the complexity. The strategy and mental aspect of the game while trying to balance the simplicity and euphoric feeling of hustling and playing hard. Ultimately, I hope to one day qualify for an AVP event!

Lars Basey

I have been playing volleyball for most of my life. I started competing in adult grass tournaments when I was 12 and worked my way up to open sand. I won my first open sand tournament at age 16 with my dad.

I love the friends and memories that I have made through volleyball. My family would always play tournaments in the mountains of Colorado every summer and I have so many positive memories at these tournaments. There is so much more to volleyball than just the competition.

I have just broken into the AVP the past two years. I made it into my first main draw 2 years ago at the AVP Denver Tour Series after defeating Hagen Smith and Jake Dietrich in the final round of the qualifier. This season my brother and I had multiple upsets to land a 3rd place finish at AVP Denver after defeating Taylor and Brenden Sander as well as Jeremy Casebeer and Alvaro Filho. We then got to play together in the AVP Atlanta Gold Series which was super awesome and we took 9th. I am excited to compete in the AVP and it would be amazing to win an AVP tournament.
